An enigmatic name: 1.618 = φ = the golden ratio
1.618 is a mathematical ratio that defines the divine proportion, the universal harmony key, due to its ubiquity in the animal, vegetal and mineral worlds.
It is a definition in symbiosis with what we do and what we seek for.
THE VISION OF A NEW LUXURY
According to 1.618, Luxury today is first and foremost ethical, creative, essential, aesthetic and immaterial.
It defines itself through scarcity, the sense of time, heritage, respect but it is also:
/ A reflection of society’s transformations.
/ Research and innovation.
/ The will to preserve and respect natural resources.
/ The discovery of oneself through an object.
/ The expression of a creative imagination.
/ The respect of human rights.
/ The preservation of know-how.
A transversal and virtuous selection
Convinced that sustainable development issues encourage creativity, 1.618 selects its participant brands/projects/artists from many domains among those contributing to define the Luxury of tomorrow (design, mobility, tourism, new techs, fashion, jewellery, wellness...).
A selection committee made up of NGO representatives, sociologists, and consultants validates the potential candidates before they become official participants.
1.618 thus provides an annual assessment of the creative progress taking place in favour of sustainable development.
Information by Art and Image
1.618 wishes to inform and question through beauty, creativity and sensitivity.
A contemporary art selection (in the form of an exhibition during our events and from April 2013 as an immersive experience in our online guide) will present art works and their authors' points of view to draw visitors’ attention to issues of consumption and sustainability.
During the 1.618 Sustainable Luxury events, films and shorts from artists and sustainability personalities are continuously projected.
A place for prospective innovation
With its team of creative and visionary talents, 1.618 set aside a space for those whose vocation is to forsee things and create an exciting future.
The INNOVATION section of our events or of our online guide invites brands, consumers and media to reflect upon the notion of virtuous development that embraces challenges through invention and imagination. It allows our audience to grasp the planetary challenges ahead, through prospective, inspirational and discovery installations.
In the 1.618 Sustainable Luxury events, the CIRCLE space exists to create synergies entreprenors, visionnaries, creatives and opinion leaders.
This area for knowledge sharing and round tables will welcome professional and public conferences, completed with movies and documentaries.
