THE ECOTONE: When architecture is inspired by the genius of nature

The first French building to inspire itself globally from Biomimicry in its conception will be created in 2023 on the Coteau site, in Arcueil, south of Paris.

Walls that open and close depending on the weather, a thin roof that breathes, wells that regulate the temperature … The Ecotone, this giant building of 82,000 square meters and winner of the contest “Inventing the Metropolis of Greater Paris “is inspired by Biomimicry or specifically “engineering that is inspired by the properties, shapes, materials and forms of life ”

Autonomous at 95% in energy thanks to its leafy vegetal cover, this worldwide representation for the wood construction and the sustainable city will work without aircon (since only using natural ventilation thanks to its automatic glass walls) and will serve as work space and housing for about 3000 to 5000 occupants.

Four architecture studios have partnered with a scientific committee to complete this urban planning project. We are looking forward to it!

At 1.618, we are passionate about this subject, which is why “Luxury and Biomimicry” will be one of the themes we will discuss at the exclusive roundtables of The 1.618 Biennale in June in Paris.
