IN PARTNERSHIP WITH:
THEME: “SUSTAINABLE SOURCING AND RESPONSIBLE VALUE CHAINS”
Rana Plaza tragedy, underpaid workforce of Eastern Europe, chinese workers died in a dorm factory in Italy, scarcity of the resources… In light of current events, cbusinesses have the need to make their operations and processes in a process of societal, environmental and social responsibility, beneficial on the long-term both for their economic development and for the protection of a common heritage. In a global and hypercompetitive context, luxury brands must innovate to mark their individuality while preserving their know-how, their heritage and their resources.
Kering, LVMH, Chanel, Hermès, among others, began for several years to secure their row materials supplies and redeem their suppliers, proving if it’s still needed, the major challenge that represents the availability of the resources and the control of supply chains. Pillars of the manufacturing process of the luxury industry products, supply chains must be at the heart of CSR strategy. Luxury brands, beyond their own interests, must now be drivers for creating beneficial long sustainable sectors in all the stakeholders, up to their consumers. Eric Briones and Gregory Casper demonstrate in their book “ La Génération Y et le Luxe ” that luxury brands must meet the requirements of the Yers who want transparency, wish that brands justify their products’ prices in accordance with their ecological awareness.
Given these facts, 1.618 questioned the luxury industry actors who have expressed in a recurring way the difficulty to reach an offer of channels and materials both ethical, qualitative and creative. On the occasion of the 1.618 Conferences, we generate a discussion aimed at demonstrating that solutions exist!
